FEBRUARY 13, 2009 - ADELAIDE HILLS AND LAVENDER FIELDS COTTAGE

FEBRUARY 13, 2009 - 36/96 - ADELAIDE HILLS AND LAVENDER FIELDS COTTAGE

Boy, are we ever slow today. It is another pleasant morning. After breakfast, Dick reads and Carolyn works on some pictures for the blog. Our plan is to check out Mt. Lofty, the highest peak in the area, and find an internet site today. We are really behind on posting.

About 1:00PM we head to Mt. Lofty over very crooked roads with vineyards or apple orchards on each side. This is really a pretty area with lots of very nice homes. We find Mt. Lofty and take a look. It is a little hazy today, but we can make out the areas of Adelaide and the coast, but can’t see Kangaroo Island.

After winding down the other side of the mountain we wind up in Stirling. Driving down the main street we spot the area public library. Lo and behold for a free membership we have free wireless access. Dick parks in a three-hour city lot and we join the library, get a library card and a welcome bag! After downloading all the important financials and checking email, Dick takes off to explore the town. Carolyn gets to work uploading this blog with pictures (the longest part of the process). After awhile, Dick comes back with two more second hand paperbacks for the ship and takes over the blog upload while Carolyn does a turn around the town. Two more second hand books later we are both back at the library.

This is a busy place. Lots of school kids have gathered and are playing grab a$$ on the front lawn. Moms and small children are busy checking out books and a group of college kids have been playing various types of music all afternoon. It is not a quiet place like the US libraries. It is very lively and pleasantly loud. We get about half of the posts done and call it a day. Back at the cottage we enjoy watching the bird life explore the newly cut lawns with some of our supply of local wine and cook a steak.
